With all 90 precincts reporting, 54.6% voted against it, according to Community Impact. Results stay unofficial until canvassed in Collin and Denton counties, which Plano straddles.

City officials said throughout the campaign that the vote decided whether Plano could use the venue taxes, not whether the arena gets built. The Stars said Prop A was one part of a broader financing strategy. Owner Tom Gaglardi told a Dallas Morning News columnist, "We'll figure it out."

  • Car rentals: tax of up to 5%
  • Hotel rooms: tax of up to 2%
  • Arena parking: up to $3 per vehicle
