Plano voters said no to Proposition A on Tuesday, the measure that would have authorized venue taxes to help pay for a Stars arena at The Shops at Willow Bend. With all 90 precincts reporting, 54.6% voted against it, according to Community Impact. Results stay unofficial until canvassed in Collin and Denton counties, which Plano straddles.
City officials said throughout the campaign that the vote decided whether Plano could use the venue taxes, not whether the arena gets built. The Stars said Prop A was one part of a broader financing strategy. Owner Tom Gaglardi told a Dallas Morning News columnist, "We'll figure it out."

CBS Texas says the arena now faces uncertainty, and Dallas News asks whether the result opens the door for the team to stay downtown. The Stars' lease at American Airlines Center expires in 2031.
