About this event

The holidays are often described as the most wonderful time of the year, but the reality can be a little more complicated. For some, they're filled with joy, cherished traditions, and togetherness. For others, they can bring feelings of loneliness, complicated family dynamics, or a longing for deeper connection.

Whatever this season looks like for you, you don't have to navigate it alone. 💚 Join The Zero Proof Social for a special year-end connection walk as we reflect on the past year, explore what the holidays mean to us, and look ahead to the possibilities of 2027. Through thoughtful conversations, we'll explore topics like:

• Holiday memories, traditions, and family dynamics

• Belonging, loneliness, and the relationships that matter to us

• The highs, lows, and lessons of 2026

• What we'd like to change or embrace in the coming year

• Our hopes for friendship, community, and connection in 2027

Our hope is that you'll leave feeling a little more understood, a little less alone, and more hopeful about the connections still waiting to be made.

How It Works If you've attended one of our Speed Friending Walks, the format will feel familiar! We'll walk along Northaven Trail in rotating pairs, giving everyone an opportunity to connect with different people throughout the experience. This time, we're adding a little more intention and depth. Each pair will receive themed conversation cards designed to encourage more meaningful dialogue. Rather than relying on spontaneous small talk, we'll explore topics that invite reflection, vulnerability, and genuine connection. A note about emotional depth: This walk may feel a little more personal and vulnerable than our usual gatherings. Some questions will be uplifting and nostalgic, while others may touch on complicated family relationships, loneliness, or difficult experiences. We encourage you to come with an open mind and a willingness to engage in meaningful conversations, while remembering that you can always share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Passing on a question is completely okay! Come solo or bring a friend. Our structured format makes it easy to meet new people without having to navigate a large group on your own.

Social Energy: 🟢🟢🟢⚪⚪ — Moderate Expect plenty of one-on-one conversation and light physical activity. You'll engage with different people throughout the walk, but the pace is relaxed. Social Comfort: 🟢🟢🟢⚪⚪ — Moderate The rotating-pair format removes much of the pressure of approaching strangers, and the provided prompts help guide conversations. However, the topics are more emotionally personal than those at our typical Speed Friending Walks, so some willingness to open up is encouraged.

💌 Keep the Connection Going Connection doesn't have to end when the walk does! We encourage you to leave a little extra time after the event in case you'd like to continue hanging out with some of the people you meet. If you can't stay afterward, consider exchanging contact information and making plans to reconnect another day. Want to organize an activity for other members? You're welcome to use the event group chat to suggest spontaneous post-walk plans or start a thread on our Meetup discussion forum with a specific activity, venue, date, and time. Whether it's the same day as the walk or another day entirely, we encourage you to take the initiative and invite others along! When making plans, please be mindful that members have different relationships with alcohol. Don't assume everyone is comfortable in bars or other alcohol-centered environments. We encourage you to check in about comfort levels and choose inclusive settings whenever possible.

A Few Things To Know

• Alcohol-free environment: We welcome people with all relationships to alcohol, whether you're sober, sober-curious, drinking less, or simply seeking meaningful connections. However, alcohol consumption is not permitted at our events. We ask everyone to respect this boundary, as we never know another person's relationship with alcohol or how its presence may affect them.

• Come with an open mind and respect for others. Listen with curiosity, avoid unsolicited advice, and respect the privacy of personal stories shared.

• Please arrive on time.

• This is a structured, moving event rather than a drop-in social.

• Please arrive by 11:50 AM to park, find the group, check in, and get settled. At 12:00 PM, my phone will go on Do Not Disturb so I can shift my attention to facilitating the event. The walk will start promptly at 12:15 PM . Once the group leaves the meeting point, we won’t be able to coordinate individual arrivals or help latecomers locate the group. If you need help with directions or logistics, please reach out before then.

• Because rotations depend on the group moving through the experience together, this event is also best for people who can participate for the full structured walk. If you already know you’ll need to arrive late or leave early, please join us for a future event that better fits your schedule.

Who can attend? This is an adult social group , and this specific event is designed around one-on-one interactions between participants. Please keep the following in mind when making plans to attend:

• Children under 14 may not attend.

• Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Because this event involves one-on-one conversations with other adults, please do not bring a minor unless you are comfortable with them participating in those interactions without you directly supervising each conversation. If you are not comfortable with that, I do not advise bringing your child to this event.

• Please leave pets at home. Service animals are always welcome.

These guidelines help us keep the event focused on the structured social experience and make it easier for everyone to move through the partner rotations together.

Let's close out 2026 with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a little more hope for the year ahead. ❤️
